Mapping Classification Schemes
http://www.sosig.ac.uk/desire/class/mapping.html

A short case study report describing the use of classification schemes within two ROADS information gateway services; SOSIG (Social Science Information Gateway) and Biz/ed (Business Education on the Internet). Classification schemes are used by ROADS information gateways to provide a subject hierarchy for the browsable sections of the service. This report looks at the decision to use different classification schemes within the two services and the implications for cross searching and browsing.

The case study provides verification for the DESIRE report The role of classification schemes in Internet resource description and discovery. It will be of interest to users and potential users of the ROADS system who are interested in the possibilities of cross browsing with other gateways.
