There is an opportunity to hold adjacent meetings of WGs or Special Interest Groups on Monday May 15, 2000 in the TERENA Offices in Amsterdam.

6. Workshop goals

The workshop targets both dissemination of information about DESIRE II Indexing, Searching and Subject Gateways technologies and development of a community consensus on key issues of large scale National Indexing, Searching Innovation.

Questions to be answered in the workshop

  • Implementation question: Start now or wait? Just do it!

  • Information Resources and their consistent access have an increasing influence on Global/International Society
  • Is Indexing and Searching an end service or an infrastructural component for Value Added Innovation for the A&R community?
  • How to create A&R professional communities in the open information space of the WWW?
7. Program structure
  • Number of presentation slots - 12-15 (possible parallel sessions)
  • Length of presentation - 30 - 60 min.
  • Panels - 2 (first day and closing)
