Problems :-(

It is impossible to reconstruct the file structure of the mirror

There is no way to figure out if all files on the master server were replicated completely on the mirror.
Outdated mirrors may be treated as fresh ones

.mirror files are not always accessible on the servers.
As noted above, the mirror package is only one of many packages in use

We made a case for funding from TERENA to develop the FTP Mirror Tracker and to work on cache/mirror integration.
