Specific Criticisms

P17: I don't believe I ever suggested that all 125 DESIRE criteria should be used, only that they should be "be taken into account" along with those from several other sources. Clearly this would be impracticable. Your text seems to suggest a naivety on my part!

This was a misunderstanding due to a poorly worded sentence which has now been amended.

It is very difficult for me to be anything other than enthusiastic about this document. It takes the work that I started and proposed so much further forward than I have so far been able to do and, broadly speaking, moves in directions that I have spoken about or suggested. I know of no other work that comes close to this or even considers similar approaches so clearly it is state-of-the-art and a worthwhile contribution to the literature.
I suppose, if there is any criticism, it is that like so much of my writing on the topic, much is suggested that has no framework of supporting evidence indicating that it would be possible or that any of the bodies who control the Web would be even remotely interested in the ideas. I hope we are doing more than tilting at windmills - that said, I recognise that this is only the first document to come out of DESIRE II and that it is intended as "motivating".
